KA HĀ LOA

A series of pre-designed home plans that offer an economical, efficient and construction-feasible design option for Lahaina residents seeking to rebuild.

HOME PLANS

In our quest to find a fitting name for our collection of home plans, we aimed to honor the community these plans are crafted for. We sought the wisdom of our esteemed Kumu ʻIliahi Paredes.

“Considering all that Lahaina has gone through, and despite the devastation, the community continues to breathe and live. They are survivors and will continue to be because of their resilience. Their breath is long and sustained; from their kupuna before them to the generations of mo'opuna after them, this community remains steadfast and will, once again, thrive!“ -ʻIliahi Paredes

Ka Hā Loa, the long sustained breath, represents the vibrant, ongoing spirit of Lahaina that transcends hardship and embodies the essence of resilience. This mana'o (thought) resonates deeply, for our plans represent more than just physical structures; they are enduring solutions meant to infuse life and hope into their inhabitants for generations to come.

BENEFITS

PRE-DESIGNED PLANS

  • By offering pre-designed home plans, KA HĀ LOA Homes significantly reduces the need for hiring an architect or drafter, which can often be costly.

Homeowners will benefit from a more budget-friendly option, as the bulk of the design work has already been completed, requiring only minimal customization.

Rather than investing in extensive design consultations, homeowners will only incur a small fee for a site plan and permitting, streamlining the financial burden of the design process.

  • With complete and permit-ready plans readily available, KA HĀ LOA Homes offers a swift and efficient path to construction.

Homeowners can bypass the lengthy waiting period typically associated with custom-designed plans, saving valuable time in the rebuilding process.

This accelerated timeline not only reduces frustration but also allows homeowners to move forward with their rebuilding projects promptly, minimizing disruptions to their lives.

  • KA HĀ LOA Home Plans have been meticulously crafted using conventional construction methods and materials, ensuring compatibility with local building codes and regulations.

Utilizing readily available materials, many of which are sourced locally, facilitates a smoother and more cost-effective construction process.

By prioritizing construction feasibility, homeowners can proceed with confidence, knowing that their chosen design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also structurally sound and practical for their needs.

  • LAYOUT CONFIRMATION

Upon successful site verification, we will provide you with the finalized site plan for your approval. This step ensures that the selected plan is optimized for your individual site.

  • PLAN ACCEPTANCE

You'll have the opportunity to review the proposed home plan on your site before finalizing the plans. This ensures that the design meets your expectations and requirements.

  • PERMIT SUBMISSION

Once the plans are reviewed, approved, and finalized, PILI will handle the completion of all necessary permit documents and assist you with the application for the building permit, streamlining the administrative process for you.

It has been difficult to put the sadness we feel into words. The devastation of our beloved town is hard to comprehend and our hearts ache. We understand the profound sense of displacement and the need to return to the neighborhoods we hold dear, for we too have been uprooted, and long for the day we can return home.

Our ties to Lahaina run deep. One of us was born and raised here, two of us are Lahainaluna graduates, and one still calls Wainee Street home. It is during these challenging times that our bonds with you, our neighbors, classmates, and clients grow even stronger. We are not just architects; we are kindred spirits who share in your sorrow, your hopes, and your dreams of rebuilding.

As we begin this journey of healing, we are committed to rebuild not just houses and businesses, but the very essence of what makes Lahaina a place we all hold close to our hearts.
