QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED

What are pre-designed home plans, and what do they include?

Pre-designed home plans are ready-made architectural designs created by our team that homeowners can choose from for their rebuilding project. These plans offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for rebuilding post-wildfire. Our pre-designed home plans include detailed architectural drawings, floor plans, elevations and required details for permitting and construction.

Can I make changes to the pre-designed home plans?

Our pre-designed home plans are intended to be ready-made solutions to streamline the rebuilding process. To ensure a prompt delivery of plans, we will not be offering customization at this time.

What is the cost of pre-designed home plans?

Our pre-designed home plans are provided at no cost to homeowners, as part of our commitment to supporting our community affected by wildfires. However, a minimal fee will be required for the creation of individual site plans.

What is a site plan, and why is it required?

A site plan outlines the layout of your property, including the placement of the house, driveway, landscaping, and utilities. It is required for ensuring compliance with current building code regulations.

We want to rebuild in the disaster area, will I get my permit faster?

The County of Maui will be implementing a Modified Permit Application for Emergency Reconstruction in disaster affected areas. Many homeowners will be able apply under this rule and can anticipate an expedited review. Timelines have not been announced.

Are these homes designed to be resilient to wildfires?

While it's important to note that no home is completely fireproof, we have taken great care in selecting exterior finishes and details that enhance fire resilience. Our pre-designed homes incorporate materials and features designed to mitigate fire risk and increase safety. Some of these include non-combustible siding, roofing & soffits, aluminum framed windows, ember-resistant venting, and ignition-resistant decking. Our goal is to provide homeowners with designs that prioritize safety and resilience in the face of wildfires.
