Modern design sensibilities with deep respect to culture, context, and client.

Pili is a term that refers to the concept of "connection" or "bonding" in the Hawaiian language. We aim to blend modern design principles with traditional Hawaiian values and mindsets, challenging the conventional boundaries of architecture in Hawaiʻi.

Founded on the island of Maui in 2017 by Brenda Braun and Jeremy Stoddart, Pili seeks to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also meaningful and culturally resonant, reflecting the local heritage and fostering a sense of connection to the environment and community.

Pili believes in a holistic design philosophy that goes beyond mere aesthetics or functionality. It aims to create spaces that are deeply rooted in the human experience, respectful of the environment, and reflective of the cultural richness of Hawaiʻi. Our approach not only celebrates the uniqueness of our location and its people but also contributes to a sense of belonging and identity within the designed spaces.

We believe in design that is pili to person, place, and culture.

Our Process

Pili offers both architectural and design services to see your project through from concept to completion.

‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i
Hawaiian Language

We believe that as a makaʻāinana (citizen) of this land, it is our duty to learn, practice and perpetuate the Hawaiian Language. While we are not native or fluent speakers, we are working toward furthering our understanding of this beautiful language. Our use of ʻōlelo Hawai‘i in our name and in our communication is done so with utmost respect and love for Hawaiʻi and its culture.
