As the second location to the Kihei Caffe in Kihei, the design for the Lahaina location couldn't feel like a jarring departure from the original. The look and feel of Kihei Caffe -Lahaina draws upon the colors and materiality of the roadside fruit stands found on the road to Hana. The ad hoc construction and playful signage found on these stands inspire the materials, graphics and fixtures in the restaurant. The design of Kihei Caffe aims to be casual and approachable but still be highly functional as a bustling restaurant. The layered graphic wall was designed in collaboration with local artist, Opihi Maui.
